Mepilex Border Post-Op is a complete, multi-layered dressing that combines absorption, protection, and fixation in a single product. It is designed to support the recovery process after surgical procedures and is also suitable for acute wounds such as cuts and abrasions. The Safetac® technology, based on soft silicone, allows the dressing to adhere to the surrounding skin without traumatically adhering to the moist wound surface. This feature helps minimize pain during removal and reduces the risk of perilesional skin damage, including blistering. The interface also helps seal the wound edges, preventing exudate from spreading to the surrounding skin and reducing the risk of maceration. The absorbent material is designed to effectively absorb and retain exudate, allowing for prolonged use of the dressing when wound and surrounding skin conditions permit. According to the manufacturer's documentation, it can remain in place for up to 14 days, depending on the wound condition and recommended clinical practices. The design also includes a transparent border, which facilitates observation of the surrounding area without the need to immediately remove the dressing, and a flexible central zone that follows body movements, being particularly useful in areas subject to movement. The dressing also features a barrier against bacteria and viruses for microorganisms larger than 25 nm and is water-resistant during showering.
